Yamaha DSR Series – New Powered Speakers by Yamaha

Yamaha looks to have upped the ante in the powered speaker market with the DSR series. They tell me the 12″ and 15″ are 1300 watts (LF850W, HF450W). I heard the entire series at the show. They sounded phenomenal. They were light, and they had a nice look to them (the 12″ was 40 pds and could also be a floor monitor). There doesn’t seem to be any pricing set in stone on them yet. They are saying they will be released around October. I can’t wait to get them in the store to shoot them out against everything under the sun. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to get a sneak preview when Yamaha does a clinic later this year.

Here’s a quick little demo I did of one of my favorite wah pedals in the world, the Dunlop ZW45 Zakk Wylde wah pedal. Now personally I’m a bit of a wah pedal nut. I own about ten wah pedals myself and they all sound different. This one sounds as crazy as it looks.

I left Nashville today. Just got into NYC, and I am sitting on the top of my friend’s apt rooftop lounge. The view here is amazing. I haven’t been back to NYC in over three years. I’m going to check out some of the mega music stores while I’m here, and hopefully I come back with some great ideas on how we can make our store better in Hawaii.
