Cable Shootout!

Posted By on December 12, 2011

It is really hard to realize how valuable a cable is in terms of tone. It is the only link between the amplifier and the guitar. It is actually one of the most crucial steps to achieving great tone and is often over looked. Over looked because most don’t get the chance to really compare cables side by side and hear the difference it makes. So this is an opportunity to hear such a comparison and maybe find the cable you need to reach the tone you have been searching for. For this test I took 3 of the most popular cables in the store each running though a Roland M-16DX at the same gain setting. Then it was recorded using Logic Pro and a basic amp simulator. No EQ or compression was applied. So check out the video and see if you can hear a difference. Hosa Powered Speaker Cable

Posted By on April 13, 2011

Ever find your self standing on a carpet of cables at the gig? Well here is one solution to help tidy up the stage:  It’s the new powered speaker cables from Hosa. They can carry the signal from your board and the power needed for powered speakers. So these are great for main or monitor powered speakers.  Skeptics may say that it is a bad idea to run signal cable parallel to power cables.  Hosa assures that they used extra shielding in this cable to prevent noise. I had a chance to try out this cable and I can say that it made everything look very clean. When I plugged it in I didn’t notice any significant increase in noise. So if your gigs require the best presentation with clean audio, check out the powered speaker cable from Hosa.
