Harmonicas at Easy MusicCenter… Blowing away the holiday blues.

Posted By on November 30, 2011

Looking for a gift for the person that has everything? Secret Santa got you on a tight budget? Or just looking for an EASY way to pick up your first instrument?
Easy Music Center has an ever growing selection of harmonicas ,books, microphones and accessories to get you blowing some harp today.

“Is that all?”  you say? No no no ! We can also special order a huge array of Honer and Lee Osker harmonicas as well as books and DVDs from Hal Leonard.

But wait there’s more….We also host an occasional harmonica clinic on our stage featuring Nilo Marrone. It’s a great way to learn hands-on and play along with a truly amazing talent. He might even ask you up to solo so come prepared (we plan for this to become a quarterly event next year).   And if that wasn’t enough, we also host an open mic every first Thursday and open up our stage so we can watch you… blow us away .

Here is a picture of  a recent Nilo clinic with attendees posing with the harmonica sets they won.  Wooo hoo!

If you’re looking for a definitive blues harp voice, look no further than the SHURE – 520DX.  It features a green and chrome die-cast casing that is contoured to fit perfectly between the harmonica and your hands.  The attached cable with 1/4-inch plug allows the microphone to be connected to a high-impedance device and for those quick volume adjustments that you may need during your performance, it also features a volume control knob at the base of the microphone.  Check out the video below to hear one of our very own customers playing on his recently purchased 520DX!!!

Shure Mic Listening Lab

Posted By on March 4, 2011

So I was checking out the Shure website when I stumbled across this. What’s this? It’s the Shure Mic Listening Lab. So what is it? It’s a collection of recordings done with Shure’s top microphones. Shure took their microphones in the studio and did various recording from different sources, such as, spoken voice, singing, drums, guitars, and more. I always wanted to do recordings of each microphone we had and post them on the web, I’m glad Shure beat me to the punch. If you’ve been wondering what that KSM9 or that BETA91 sounded like, take some time to check out this site.

Snare Mic Shootout!

Posted By on October 21, 2010

As of late, I have been getting into recording and have been building my own small studio setup at home. In need of a snare mic, I decided to do a microphone shootout between popular mics for snares, and mics that are for other purposes.  Check it out! Maybe it will help you, just like it did for me, find a mic that will suit your snare!

I used the Pearl M1470S snare, which is a 14×7 all maple shell drum. We routed this into a Presonus Firestudio Mobile, which went into Cubase 5. No EQ or compression was used on the files. Just raw tone baby!
