I stumbled upon this great video with one of the world’s greatest drummers, Mike Mangini.  Time Warp is a show from the Discovery Channel where they use high speed cameras to slow things down and show exactly what’s going on.  And they got one of the best to show ‘em how it’s done.

Make sure you at least watch around 4:15 and also around 4:50 to see what our drum heads and cymbals endure hit after hit. Enjoy!

I was at the Mai Tai Rumble finals last night, and wow what a show! 5 great contestants that have been competing for the last 9 weeks to get to the finals and see who wins. It was the 10th anniversary of the Rumble, a band competition with 2 categories: Open Mic, and Island Contemporary.

Each band had their own style, and they all sounded great. In the end TTYM took the Open Mic category, and Pressure Drop took the Island Contemporary category. Here’s some pics I snapped. I was outside and far away – it was WAY too crowded in there for me!

I’ve always wondered how they would get a handsfree system for turning pages. There are a few sheet music apps for the iPad out right now. My favorite is the unrealBook, by Aron Nelson. But this is something that would help out tremendously.
