New Songwriting Competition on TV

Posted By on June 3, 2011

The other night a friend of my mine convinced me that I should change to channel to “Bravo” and no offense to “Bravo” fans, but most of the time there is nothing on that channel for me. But on this night there was new episode of a new songwriting competition, Platinum Hits. The show is hosted by singer/songwriter Jewel, which I think is a great pick for a show like this. The show features 12 up-and-coming artist, who must compete through different songwriting challenges.

The episode I watched began with the 12 artists writing a hook about L.A., they were given 30 minutes to do so. From the 12, the top 4 were chosen to lead their own teams of 3 and assign to finish the song they had began, this time within an 8 hour period. All in all, this show is pretty awesome, especially if you are a singer/songwriter yourself. The show is on every Monday at 10/9c.

Here is a clip of the winner from the episode I watched. Enjoy!

Clinic Attendees Win Big!

Posted By on May 30, 2011

Thank you to all those who came out to all our clinics this past week. For those of you who didn’t attend, you missed out. To make it even more of a drag for those of you who didn’t attend, we gave away free gear! Check out what some of our attendees won.

This gentleman is our postal man who decided to stop by and check out our clinic (after work of course), he won a Roland R-05 Handheld recorder. After he won this, he attended both the Yamaha/Steinberg clinic, and Fender clinic, he wasn’t going to pass up the chance to win more gear. In this photo are Roland clinicians, Scott Tibbs (left) and Robert Marcello (middle), as well as district rep,  John Hernandez (right).

This little girl won a studio recording package from Yamaha and Steinberg. Here she is posing with Blake Angelos (left) and Greg Ondo (right).

Shure Mic Listening Lab

So I was checking out the Shure website when I stumbled across this. What’s this? It’s the Shure Mic Listening Lab. So what is it? It’s a collection of recordings done with Shure’s top microphones. Shure took their microphones in the studio and did various recording from different sources, such as, spoken voice, singing, drums, guitars, and more. I always wanted to do recordings of each microphone we had and post them on the web, I’m glad Shure beat me to the punch. If you’ve been wondering what that KSM9 or that BETA91 sounded like, take some time to check out this site.

Posted By on November 21, 2010

I thought the title sounded good, so I’m gonna stick with it. What I’m saying is, don’t expect to see a video every week.

Moving on, I came across this amazing video on youtube from a musician named Ebrahim. This guy is a great musician, but this video is another step up from the ordinary. Be sure to watch the full video and not skip ahead.

Renovations at the King St. Store

Posted By on March 29, 2010

Today we began the renovations on the new ukulele wall at the King St. store. We are going to match it to the recently renovated acoustic guitar room. If you haven’t seen the new acoustic guitar room be sure to come in and check it out. Our ukulele wall should be wrapping up by the end of the week. So if you come in to the store this week, don’t mind our mess, we will try to keep it as clean as possible. Also if you are still looking for ukuleles, we haven’t gotten rid of them, they are hanging on the bass guitar wall. They’re not to customer friendly as far as being able to reach all of them, so please let our sales guys know if you are in need of any assistance.

Live Performances

Posted By on March 15, 2010

As most of you know, we hold live performances at the King St. store from time to time. Recently we had two great local bands play on our fully equipped live sound stage. A great rock band, Kilroy, performed some amazing originals. Next we had End of an Era, who performed some great alternative rock originals. Both bands rocked it out on our stage and gave great performances. Included are pictures from the performances. If you and your band are ever interested in performing here, come talk to one of our sales guys and find out more information. Also you can email us at admin@easymusiccenter.com. I enjoy watching local bands play on our stage, so come on down and put it to use!

I’ve been a apple user for almost a year now and I’m proud to say I have no regrets. Recently one of my co-workers introduced me to a program called “SuperDuper!” Basically what this program does is make a complete bootable clone of your hard drive to an external. This allows the user the ability of being able to boot from their external hard drive via firewire. How does this benefit me?

First NAMM Experience

Posted By on January 20, 2010

So NAMM is over and I’m back in Hawaii. It was a really fun experience and I’m glad I got to go. Seeing all the new products that I otherwise would only be able to see online was pretty awesome. Even seeing all the musicians was pretty cool too, like Gregg Bissonette. Don’t worry though about the new product thing. All the cool the stuff we saw, we’re going to bring it in, but for now it’s a secret ;)
