Renovations at the King St. Store

Today we began the renovations on the new ukulele wall at the King St. store. We are going to match it to the recently renovated acoustic guitar room. If you haven’t seen the new acoustic guitar room be sure to come in and check it out. Our ukulele wall should be wrapping up by the end of the week. So if you come in to the store this week, don’t mind our mess, we will try to keep it as clean as possible. Also if you are still looking for ukuleles, we haven’t gotten rid of them, they are hanging on the bass guitar wall. They’re not to customer friendly as far as being able to reach all of them, so please let our sales guys know if you are in need of any assistance.

Live Performances

As most of you know, we hold live performances at the King St. store from time to time. Recently we had two great local bands play on our fully equipped live sound stage. A great rock band, Kilroy, performed some amazing originals. Next we had End of an Era, who performed some great alternative rock originals. Both bands rocked it out on our stage and gave great performances. Included are pictures from the performances. Take Your Computer Anywhere… If it’s a Mac.

I’ve been a apple user for almost a year now and I’m proud to say I have no regrets. Recently one of my co-workers introduced me to a program called “SuperDuper!” Basically what this program does is make a complete bootable clone of your hard drive to an external. This allows the user the ability of being able to boot from their external hard drive via firewire. How does this benefit me? Let’s say my Mac ever crashes, though I don’t think it ever will, I have the ability to take my external hard drive, where I previously ran SuperDuper!, take it to a friends Mac and boot up my system on there. I don’t lose any files or preferences. Talk about amazing! I recently came across a problem where I needed to run Photoshop at work without having to bring my laptop. Fortunately I came up with a great idea to bring my hard drive to work and run it using my work computer, so now I have Photoshop on my work PC, in a way that is. It’s pretty cool, if you own a Mac you need to check it out.

First NAMM Experience

So NAMM is over and I’m back in Hawaii. It was a really fun experience and I’m glad I got to go. Seeing all the new products that I otherwise would only be able to see online was pretty awesome. Even seeing all the musicians was pretty cool too, like Gregg Bissonette. Don’t worry though about the new product thing. All the cool the stuff we saw, we’re going to bring it in, but for now it’s a secret

My first NAMM experience… so far

So needless to say I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve never experienced anything quite as exciting this. All the musicial equipment you could dream of all under one roof. I’ve played guitars that I’ve only dreamed about playing. I’ve seen musical artist that I’ve only seen on tv. It’s been quite an experience. The best part of it is, it’s still not over. I just got back from this great Yamaha concert featuring Natalie Cole, Jason Mraz, Vince Gill, Michael McDonald, John Ondrasik, Jon McLaughlin, and the Pull Start Rockets. It was an awesome concert. One of the best live music events I’ve been to. I can’t wait or what else is in-store. I’ll try to keep you up-to-date, that is, if I don’t get distracted by everything going on.

John Mayer Inspiration Information

So I was browsing the YouTube and came across a bunch of videos that featured John Mayer doing a speech, more of a clinic, at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He goes over the different aspects of being a musician, songwriting, singing, and a bunch more including answering the questions of the students there. I posted all the videos here to make it easier to watch. Also the video is raw and jumps around, so don’t be too disappointed if you realize you just missed something. Other than that, it’s really good, even though you might not be a most advent John Mayer fan. Enjoy!

Jericho Just Got An iPhone!

So I just got an iPhone. Hopefully now that I have one I can be able to post more cool stuff up on here. Like the fact I went to go watch the Broadway Musical “STOMP” yesterday. It’s pretty awesome! Also there happens to be 3 guys in the cast that are from Hawaii. Always good to see the talent has come from here. If you didn’t see it yet you should.

Great Solution for “Older” MacBook Pro

So I own a MacBook Pro, the ones that came out before the new updated versions with SD card readers, which brings me to my predicament: How do I read SD cards? I don’t need something that has a compact flash reader or a sony card reader. All I need is something that reads SD cards and doesn’t take up a bunch of space. Guess what? I found it! I was searching on OWC (Other World Computing) and found this great little thing that fits in my ExpressCard slot, which happens to be what apple switched out for the new updated MacBook Pro’s which have the SD card readers. The best part is once you install it you can leave it in. So if you don’t use your ExpressCard reader much, like me, this is super sick! Check it out, it’s definitely worth it.

Getting a little creative!

So I’ve begun making ads for the stores tv’s. For now I’m just practicing with the one down @ King. I just bought Adobe Creative Suite CS4 and have been working away ever since. It’s pretty entertaining coming up with new ideas for each ad and trying to make it different then the last, so there’s no repetition. I even got our commercial running in the lineup. Come down to King St. and check it out! I’m pretty stoked about it. It should be starting out in Pearl City as soon as I figure out a effiecient way of doing it without having to keep burning DVD’s every week :/
