Yamaha DSR Series – New Powered Speakers by Yamaha

Posted By Peter on June 22, 2010

Yamaha looks to have upped the ante in the powered speaker market with the DSR series. They tell me the 12″ and 15″ are 1300 watts (LF850W, HF450W). I heard the entire series at the show. They sounded phenomenal. They were light, and they had a nice look to them (the 12″ was 40 pds and could also be a floor monitor). There doesn’t seem to be any pricing set in stone on them yet. They are saying they will be released around October. I can’t wait to get them in the store to shoot them out against everything under the sun. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to get a sneak preview when Yamaha does a clinic later this year.

Monell’s Southern food

It is awesome. I had to come here again this year. It is in someone’s house, and you sit down with random folks. We sat by some people from Nashville and LA this time. The menu: fried chicken, ribs, fried Catfish, pickled cucmbers, cream broccoli, collared greens, corn bread, biscuits, cream corn, cole slaw, and banana pudding for desert. All you can eat for $16.02. Mean!

The new Kala ukulele amp! We have these on order. They are going to sell for $99 in the store. They look cool, and for the price, they sounded great! I like the tweed and the black. Email us if you think we should bring in the pink too: admin@easymusiccenter.com.

I like the NAMM show because of the talent.

Kala Pocket Ukulele

Posted By Peter on January 17, 2010

I’m in the airport on my way back from the NAMM show. I feel very lucky that Mike Upton, the owner of Kala ukulele, gave me my very own Kala Pocket Ukulele (with my name inscribed on it no less) at the NAMM show. When I first saw it, I thought it was a joke. I thought sopranos were tiny, but this thing is on a whole different level. Pocket Uke? I’m calling it my PUKE. I’m excited to have it while I wait an hour for the flight to board. I hope people around me don’t get too irritated at the two songs that I know. Yep. You can really play this thing. It takes a little getting used to because it is so small that you can’t cradle it under you arm, but it is a lot of fun, and I am surprised how much sound it has for such a small size. The intonation is on too. We will be carrying them in the store soon. This uke is a chick magnet. I’ve gotten a lot of smiles and comments from the ladies as I sit here… Thanks Mike!
