Kicking Killer Korg Rebates for September!!!

Posted By Peter on September 1, 2010

Holy Cow!!!! These are some killer rebates. I am a little envious about the MicroSampler. Maybe I will buy two now…Besides these great rebates, mention to the sales person this posting on our website, and we will knock off another $50 from a Korg MicroSampler from our sales price. With the rebate, that makes it $150 below the sales price! Woohoo! I will put out another video soon so you can see what a beast of a sampler the MicroSampler really is. Don’t miss out!

Jam Sessh!

Every first Thursday is Jam Session Thursday at Easy Music Center King Street.  Of course, our stage really is open to you any time of the day. People get up there and rock out all the time. But, if you are a little bashful, or are hoping that other random folks will get up there too and fill in on different instruments, then come down on Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:30pm. We will have the stage ready to go (we normally do anyway) with microphones, a guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums. Just get up on the stage and get rocking!!!

These guys rocked out at one of our Jam Sessions: www.easymusiccenter.com/2010/08/easy-music-center-jam-session-video-from-right-now/

BeatRoot – Round 1 – Thursday, August 19, 2010

Posted By Jericho on August 17, 2010

Since 2005, the Lightsleepers, spearheaded by Kavet the catalyst, have been organizing The BeatRoot producer battles. This is the only known battle in Hawaii that pits producer vs. producer and beat vs. beat! Each battle consists of 8 producers that use production equipment ranging from AKAI MPCs to laptops. Each round is 1 – 2 minute beat each. The first round winners move on to the semi-final round, and the losers of the first round have to battle again to claim the wild card 4th spot. In the Semi-final round, the remaining producers battle to clinch a spot in the Finals! The finals consist of 2 rounds with each producer playing 2 – 2 minute beats. The winner of the battle claims a spot at the BeatRoot finals! BeatRoot brings a cool twist to the producers and beat makers in Hawaii and is a showcase for all of Hawaii’s producers!

If you would ever like to participate in the BeatRoot competition as a contestant or as an exhibitor, please email Kavet: lightsleepers@gmail.com

Easy Music Center has a new Jazz instructor. Sign up today!

Posted By Peter on August 7, 2010

Tired of playing the same 3 chord blues or pop tune? Expand your knowledge of music theory by studying jazz. Jazz theory is not just good for playing jazz. It can help you to develop a better understanding of the structure of music and help you to become a better composer or improviser in any style that you might play. Landon Mattox earned a Master of Music Education and a Master of Jazz Studies degree from the University of North Texas, one of the world’s top jazz studies programs, and he has over 15 years of experience teaching to students of all ages, levels, and desired music genre. If you want to push it to the next level, or you want to get an early start, then sign up today. All ages and levels are welcome.

I sat in on a crash lesson between Landon and Allen Ubaldo, and it was fun to watch Landon get the gears turning in Allen’s head about Jazz. Allen is a solid player, but Jazz is not something he knows much about. Landon had him on his way to improvising in Jazz by the end of the 20 minute lesson. Allen pulled me aside after and said “That was cool. I picked up something I didn’t understand about music before.”

For now, Landon is teaching on Saturday from 12-4pm at the King store. His time slots are limited so get signed up before they fill up. He charges $25 for a half hour. If you would like to book a lesson, send an email to admin@easymusiccenter.com. I’m all “Jazzed” up! I know…I’m a dork.

Video shot on my iphone with a blue Mikey….

Every First Thursday 5pm at the King St. store! You don’t need to bring your own gear cause we got it on the stage or on the floor!
