Pearl City

Billy Reichling

Billy was born and raised in Hawaii. His first exposure to music was @ the age of five when he first heard his friend’s Kiss album Hotter Than Hell. That resulted in his cherished tennis racket guitar with a Mr. Microphone duct taped to the handle so he could hear it in his stereo. After years of pretending to play along with Kiss Alive 2, he got a real guitar @ age 11, and after hearing Metallica @ age 12 finally stopped pretending and actually started learning how. He had a life changing experience after seeing Joe satriani live @ Andrews Amphitheater. From then on it was all about guitar and practice, and a pretty unhealthy obsession with insane shred guitarists like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malsteen, Paul Gilbert, Van Halen, etc. After a series of mediocre high school bands, he started a rock/prog band in the early 90 s called Nothingface, which resulted in a CD and a Hawaii Music Award for Best Rock Album. He now plays whenever the opportunity arises, but is still known as a hopeless guitarist and tone fanatic. He now works at the Pearl City store and shares his enthusiasm with customers on a daily basis.
