Jake is such a nice and humble guy. I am always thrilled to see him come by the store. He picked up a Genz Benz Shuttle 10″ to fill out the low end for his acoustic amp when playing his Ukulele. I think he was stoked on the sound and how light the unit was. I’m glad we had what he needed! Chee!

He dropped off a bunch of copies of his new Single “Go For Broke” – The song is dedicated to the Nisei WWII soldiers – the most decorated group in military history. You can download it at his website (http://www.jakeshimabukuro.com/?t=goforbroke) for free.

Ever dreamed of jamming on an acoustic guitar in a ‘quiet’ room? Well, now you can at our Pearl City location!

Over the past weeks we have undergone extensive renovation of our Pearl City store. We now offer an exclusive acoustic room!

In addition, we have re-vamped our Ukulele wall too! Now you can have a complete ‘at-a-glance’ view of our entire Ukulele inventory!

And if that wasn’t enough, we also have an awesome new Electric Bass Guitar wall! Our Keyboard and DJ sections are looking great as well!

Furthermore, we have re-organized our store in some areas to make shopping an easier experience overall.

Guitar and Bass Setups Back Again – Welcome Cedric Pascua the Guitar Tech

Working hard...

It is my pleasure to tell you that we have an in-house guitar tech again. Cedric Pascua is a veteran to guitar setups. When our general manager, Chris, told me that Cedric was his go to guitar tech for years, I knew we had a great new hire on our hands (Chris is very picky about his gear). You will also see Cedric helping us on the sales floor at the King St. store when we are busy. He is knowledgeable about musical instruments in general, and he is particularly well versed in amps and pedals.

Please welcome Cedric to our store!

Cedric’s Schedule:

Monday: 10am-7pm
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: 10am-7pm
Thursday: 10am-7pm
Friday: 10am-7pm
Saturday: 11:30 – 5pm

We can take in your guitar when Cedric is not at work. We can also take in guitar’s from the Pearl City location, but you can expect the setup to take longer because the transfers will revolve around our inventory shipments to that store.

Blackheart Amps

Thinking about getting a tube amp but you’re on a budget ? Blackheart by Crate Amps are great place to start. Nice tube clean tone that won’t kill your wallet. They come in 1×12 combo (3,5 and 15watt ) and 1, 5, 15 and even in a 100 watt head. They sound great and are perfect if you want to plug in all those stomp boxes. If you go to their website (www.blackhearteng.com) they even have links for people selling Mods for these amps so you can customize your amp. We have a 1×12 combo set up next to our pedal section, as well as the 1 watt and 15 watt stacks on the floor, so come on in and check it out.

Xmas?! Already? It’s not even turkey day yet…

That’s right, folks! Christmas is right around the corner, although I swear that corner gets smaller and smaller every year. People have already been shopping for a few weeks for Christmas presents, and the local malls have had their decorations up since Halloween it seems!

So let’s say you want to get your musician cousin/son/daughter/uncle/aunty/grandma/dog/friend/mom/dad a new guitar… Well see if you can find out what he wants first before buying just anything that has 6 strings on it! Music and instruments are very personal things to most people, and while one guitar may work for someone, it may not work for someone else.

Does he want an acoustic or an electric guitar? If you don’t know this, what kind of music do they listen to or what do they want to play? Jack Johnson? Probably acoustic. Led Zeppelin? Probably electric… But not always!

Try to give us as much information about the person receiving the gift when you come in to our stores and we’ll get you what we think the right product may be. But we always say that it’s best to bring the person into our store and let them choose their gear themselves. The same goes for drums, keyboards, ukulele, etc.

We offer gift cards for any amount, and maybe it’s wise to give them an early present. We will also be extending the return period* for the holiday season, just in case you didn’t see that Marshall Full Stack under the Christmas tree, but instead a Microcube. (You did ask for a BIG guitar amp, right?)

So come into our stores, browse around and let us know what you’re looking for. We’ll help you pick out the right gift to put under your tree. We may suggest some accessories for your guitar buddy and that he should come in and choose the guitar himself. But do know that a $100 card to a musicians candy store brings a big smile too!
