Meeting George Benson and Getting to Play The New Ibanez LGB300-VYS at NAMM 2012

Posted By on May 12, 2012

Hey Easy Music Center fans, I had the opportunity to go to the NAMM show this year. It was an honor and a privilege to represent Easy Music Center. If you ever get a chance to go, do not miss out on the opportunity.  You will get to see great new products and see music legends such as George Benson.

Being an Ibanez dealer, I was afforded the opportunity to attend a semi-private demonstration with George Benson showing off his new Ibanez LGB300-VYS. This new hollow body jazz guitar by Ibanez is a true beauty. It has a rich full tone that will inspire the creativity of any guitarist. It features a 16.5″ body, wider neck profile, which works great for fingerstyle playing,  and Super 58 pickups in both the bridge and neck positions that handle everything from jazz to rock tones.

The coolest thing about this experience was that he asked if anybody wanted to try out the guitar right then and there. Yikes!  A couple of guys went up and played really well. George asked if one more person wanted to come up and try the guitar. I figured what the heck. Watch the whole video, but look out for me at 12:10. This was a surreal experience that I will never forget.

Ibanez S1XXV 25th Anniversary Relive all of your 80′s glory

Posted By on April 22, 2012

Dust off those old acid wash jeans,  jean jacket (canadian tuxedo baby!) and your headbanger approved back patch and buttons because this month we’re checking out the new 25th anniversary  Ibanez S1XXV in 80′s approved fluorescent yellow ( also available in florescent green). When I was a little mullet headed lad, I wanted this guitar so bad…it was a shredder guitar, was florescent yellow, and just screams COCKROCK! What more could a kid want? Who didn’t think florescent yellow was  cool in the 80′s?  Back then it was called a saber because of how thin it was.  There was nothing like it on the market, and it ripped.  Aside from the new tremolo system, it is just as cool as I had remembered . Come by and check one out today.

Ibanez unveils an S Series in brilliant fluorescents.

Famous for its lightweight carved mahogany body, the S series can take a beating while still providing the resonance of guitars twice its size. It also comes equipped with the double-locking ZR tremolo and Zero Point System, a smooth ball bearing tremolo that makes every subtle nuance of whammy bar use come alive. The S series’ sleek, comfortable mahogany bodies, thin & fast Wizard III necks, and high-gain IBZ INF pickup combos make these instruments impossible to beat in any genre of music. And now it’s available in outrageous finishes sure to make a statement at any venue.

Features

  • Mahogany body
  • 3 Piece maple Wizard III neck, rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets
  • INF1 neck pickup
  • INFS1 middle pickup
  • INF2 bridge pickup
  • ZR bridge with ZPS2

Promethean P5210 plus friends by Ibanez

Posted By on March 23, 2012

The last time I was  impressed with a new combo bass amp was the time SWR came out with their California Blonde. This time, I am blown away by the tonal clarity and headroom provided by the new Promethean Bass Amp line by Ibanez. These bass amps are compact with power and versatility.

Out of the Prometheans, I picked the P5210 to show the special EQ options. In the video below, I also feature its clear sound, massive headroom and convertibility. Yes, it is very easy to unscrew the ‘head’ of the amp and take it to a gig or rehearsal where you can plug into whatever cabinet you have available.

The Prometheans make great -  sound easy!

Ibanez AK95 Dark Violin Sunburst – creamy jazz tones for a great price.

Posted By on August 30, 2011

For years now, I have been searching for an arch-top guitar that’s just right for me.  I remember being on the hunt for that just-right axe in Seattle music stores during my time there in the 90′s but never having the nerve to drop $2500 and up for a Gibson 175 or 335 – with most of the used models I tried barely resembling playable guitars sporting used up frets from decades of use…

To make a long story short, I was simply amazed at the quality of this Ibanez AK95 right out of the box:

Solid, creamy jazz tone spreading evenly over all registers! For barely more than $500. This dark violin sunburst Artcore Series arch-top has received consistently enthusiastic reviews from employees here at Easy Music Center as well as customers. I think the combination of solid Spruce tops and sides and the Mahogany neck teamed up with the amazing craftsmanship – especially considering the affordability – works perfectly. Check out the video below and judge for yourself:
