James Tyler Variax 69 (3-Tone) by Line 6

I was a bit skeptical at first, having been into vintage Strats all my life, to pick up a guitar that does everything you may need on a gig: At the turn of a knob… or two. The JTV-69-3T can function in both analog as well as digital settings; one humbucker and two single coils give you a solid, boutique James Tyler guitar. But turn the two rotary knows and you are in for way more!
In the video below, I focus on demonstrating how the tone selector lets you dial in dead-on sound presets switching from an arch-top jazz to a 12-string acoustic, classical, an Indian sitar, or to gnarly metal sounds. My favorite feature, however, is the other rotary knob – the tuning selector. That’s right, you can select anything from standard tuning to drop-D to slack-key or baritone; all in a split second. I am very impressed with how quick and accurate this function operates. And even more, it is possible to program and save your own tuning, making this guitar by far the most versatile work horse on the market.
