Introducing the NEW Roland TD-30KV and TD-30K Electronic Drumset!!!

Posted By on February 24, 2012

There were a lot of exciting new products from Roland this year! A couple of the new drum products that caught my attention are the Roland TD30KV and Roland TD-30K.  This will replace both the TD-20 and the TD-12 Kits. The TD-30KV will be a 6pc set with 2 crashes, a ride and a hi-hat. The TD-30K will be a 5pc set with 2 crashes, a ride and hi-hat. The TD-30 is designed from the ground up so that means brand new sounds and playback tracks. It also features the new “SuperNATURAL” sounds technology. This set has great playability and outrageously realistic feel and sound. We got a chance to play with these kits at the past NAMM show, and we were blown away at how real they sound and feel.  Gone are the days of the digital kit almost sort of sounding like the real thing.  This is by far the closest, most realistic attempt at a digital module that we have ever tried.  This will be shipping sometime in March/April so you’ll be able to try this out for yourself and see what the hype is about.  We have a few kits already on order for those who are trying to get their hands on the first shipment.  Please email us admin@easymusiccenter.com if you want to reserve one of these new kits.  More details to come!

Yamaha DXR and DXS Series Loudspeakers

Posted By on February 18, 2012

Just announced at the Winter NAMM 2012 are the new DXR and DXS series loudspeakers from Yamaha. All of the DXR speakers feature a 1100 watt D-class power amplifier module and a 3 channel intelligent mixer. The DXR series comes in 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch, and 15 inch speaker sizes. The DXS series sub-woofers include a 950 watt D-class amplifier module. This series comes in two models, a single 12 and a single 15 inch woofer. The advantage that these speakers have over other loudspeakers in this class is the built in DSP. The DSP not only protects the speaker from thermal and audio over load but ensures the best  sound quality possible is achieved. This DSP was designed in partnership with Nexo, one of the leading sound reinforcement companies in the industry. The speakers not only sound good but look good too. The DXR series is housed in a durable ABS enclosure, and the DXS Series is housed in a wood enclosure. These speakers can match any setting and have the right features for almost any sized gig. They are the only speakers you’ll ever really need. Check out the video below.

Here’s a toast to the new GT-100 by Boss!

Robert Marcelo toasting the new GT-100 at NAMM after an AWESOME demo!

The NAMM show was needless to say one of the best experiences I have had both as a musician and as a salesperson at Easy Music Center. My eyes feasted upon the plethora of new and exciting gear from a full drum set played with nothing but your feet, to a brand new line of “intelligent” PA gear by Line 6. Though I digress, as a guitar player, one of the most exciting was the release of the new GT-100 by BOSS.

BOSS has done it again! (No surprise for those of us who live and love BOSS). The new GT-100 has a new sleek design, the most striking of which is the unique dual LCD screens. This new feature, along with the 8 easy grab knobs, makes it easy to tweak your sound on the fly. There are no menus and everything is easy to access and ready to go. Boss also remodeled the entire amps and effects section; they sound better than ever! Thanks to a new DSP engine, your COSM tones will soar higher than ever before. But, it wouldn’t be complete without a new set of vintage sounding amps from high-gain models to smooth and clean. The most impressive part of this new flagship has to be the new Accel pedal, allowing control of multiple parameters at once.

All in all, this is a MUST SEE pedal! I was blown away by Robert Marcelo at the NAMM show and his flawless execution of all it’s features as he proceeded to melt my face off. Be on the lookout for it here at Easy Music Center!  I wish my video didn’t come out distorted…Robert was killing it as always!

I left Nashville today. Just got into NYC, and I am sitting on the top of my friend’s apt rooftop lounge. The view here is amazing. I haven’t been back to NYC in over three years. I’m going to check out some of the mega music stores while I’m here, and hopefully I come back with some great ideas on how we can make our store better in Hawaii.

It is awesome. I had to come here again this year. It is in someone’s house, and you sit down with random folks. We sat by some people from Nashville and LA this time. The menu: fried chicken, ribs, fried Catfish, pickled cucmbers, cream broccoli, collared greens, corn bread, biscuits, cream corn, cole slaw, and banana pudding for desert. All you can eat for $16.02. Mean!
