Apogee One

The “One” released by Apogee this past year, has been stirring up quite the commotion. Not only is it an interface that can record at 24-bit/48kHz, but it does it with its built-in tuned condenser microphone.

The best part is the microphone doesn’t suck! You would think that a microphone built-in to an interface wouldn’t be able to give you great quality sounding tracks, well that’s where you would be wrong. Apogee has designed a great little interface with great little microphone. Check out the following link to Apogee’s website for some great videos of the One in use. Tommy Emmanuel’s product demo has to be my favorite. Also, be sure to come in and check it out at the nearest Easy Music Center to you.

This is no joke! It may be on April 1st, but we are indeed having a killer clinic presented by Propellerhead, makers of Reason and Record.

If you want to talk to a representative from Propellerheads, now is your chance. He will be covering the basics of Reason 4 and their newest product, Record. He will also take audience questions throughout the clinic. We’ll have his computer hooked up to our stage TV so everyone can see what’s going on.

If you want to get started making beats or recording your songs, do not miss this clinic!

Jamhub at Easy Music Center

We just got the Jamhub in recently. It is awesome! You can play with 6 other people on the tourbus! Everyone can have their own mic, own line or guitar in, and each person can monitor everyone else at their desired sound level. This unit also has built in effects and a recorder (to SD card) if you want to record your jam session/practice, which makes it a great practice evaluation tool.

The products range from 299 for their most basic package up to about 699 for the one we have on this video. Hawaii is a tough place to find a good place to practice and rehearse. A jamhub solves that problem. When introducing yourself to the neighbors gets you introduced to your neighborhood policeman, GET A JAMHUB!!!! New TLM102 from Neumann

Neumann just released their new TLM102 Studio Recording Microphone. This microphone is to be seen as the “little brother” to the TLM103. It has an overall reduced size, but retains great Neumann components and is designed to be used in various applications. Having a maximum sound pressure of level of 144db, it can easily be used to mic up a guitar cab, drums or any loud percussion you might have. But don’t let that deter you from using it for vocals, which has great presence from the mic’s slight boost at 6kHz. Being that this is the little brother to the TLM103, the price is little as well, starting at just less than $900 MSRP. We just got them in stock, so come check them out at both locations.

Chris Bailey – DAW (Home Recording) Clinic – Sept. 23, 5pm

Chris will be discussing the basics of Digital Audio Workstations and home recording. If you’ve ever worked with ProTools, Cubase, Logic, M-Audio, PreSonus, Digidesign or any other home recording systems, you should come down with any questions you may have.

Chris’ last clinic on MIDI was very enlightening and this one should be as well!

Chris Bailey has worked as a music technology consultant for 16 years and as audio engineer for over 10 years. He has a Platinum Record award for his work as a recording engineer on Tyrese’s self titled first CD. Since 1998 he has been working as an instructor at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe Arizona. Chris has been teaching various subjects such as digital audio, MIDI, surround sound, video game audio, Digidesign Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro. In early 2009 Chris and his wife relocated to live closer to his wife’s family on the windward side of Oahu.

As a musician he has toured the United States with the band “beats the hell out of me”. BTHOOM has recorded several albums and was signed for awhile with Metal Blade Records. During that time the band worked with producer Ross Robinson. Recently Chris has produced and engineered the band’s “Revising History” CD which they have released themselves.

As a solo artist Chris started the project TripNet, which is a blending of World, Electronic, Ambient, and Guitar Textures. These instrumental recordings have been his inspiration for getting into video and pursuing soundtrack work. A TripNet Cd entitled “Curve” was released in 2002 and a new CD “Acquisition of Signal” was released in 2008. All CDs mentioned are available at CDbaby.com, and on the Apple iTunes Music Store, along with many other digital distribution sites.

Chris has scored music for several different multimedia and video projects for companies such as Sundt, Fairmont Hotels, Arizona Chain Reaction, and REI.
